In this course, designed for beginners or anyone wishing to explore short stories, participants will learn from published examples while applying short fiction techniques to their own writing. We will explore conflict, characterization, viewpoint, and description as they contribute to plot. Tips on using viewpoint and sensory detail to engage readers, as well as story length and structure, will be covered. Enrollment is limited.

This 5-week workshop will meet at the Jewish Federation Center on Vanderbilt Road in Naples. Course listings will go out to members in September/October. Register early. The price is very reasonable, but seating is limited. You must be a member of the Women's Cultural Alliance to participate (class size is limited).

You sparked your writing by Exploring Life’s Journey. Now you’re ready to continue by Writing from the Heart in this 5-week Part 2 memoir course. Learn to fine-tune your writing whether your goal is memoir, journals and diaries, personal letters, family history, or personal experience pieces and essays. You’ll continue navigating through the islands of your memory, selecting and developing key events, and focusing on vivid description and developing a story arc to bring the people and drama alive. The result: engaging stories to share with family, friends, and other readers.
